The Chile House was built in the years 1922 to 1924, commissioned by the
businessman Henry B. Sloman from Hamburg, who had made his fortune trading saltpetre in Chile. It stood for the willingness to build up during a time of
inflation. Today the monumental brick building in the shape of a passenger ship
has been put on the list of "World Heritage Sites". |
