Beckett spends the morning between a bank, Klopstockstraße (International
Office) and Alsterterrasse (British Consulate), in order to finally acquire a written permission to see further "prohibited" paintings in the repositories of German collections. In the afternoon, visit to Maria Rümker, then on to Dammtor. Last conversation with Claudia Asher, one last idle tour through Hamburg's bars together. Late at
night, Beckett brings her home by taxi. Her farewell-present: a box with five
cigars.
